The importance of the unicorn

There have been few legendary creatures that have captured the heart and imagination in much the same way as the unicorn. This creature with horns has appeared in many different cultures for thousands of years, and in almost all cases it is a lasting symbol of good, hope and majesty.

In ancient China, around 3000 BC, “qilin” was not considered a mythical being. The ancient Chinese believed that they were real beings and did not seek proof of their existence, but actually sought to find them. They were believed to be a sign that everything is in order with the world. But the Chinese qilin is very similar to the Western ideal of the unicorn. In its Chinese form, it looks more like a dragon-like animal with weights and more of a reptilian look. The outside color of the animal was one of five colors; White, yellow, red, blue or black, these five colors are sacred to the Chinese. The ancient Chinese are not the only culture that believes in their existence. The ancient Greeks were also convinced that the animal not only existed but also appears in some of Aristotle’s early writings. Many observations have been reported throughout history, starting with some references in the Hebrew Bible. According to the first scriptures in Genesis, Adam saw one of the creatures in the Garden of Eden at the beginning of time. The Bible also contains a description of an animal that seems to have a very similarity to the being in the Book of Job (Job 39: 9-12) and in the Book of Isaiah (34: 7). Observations of Alexander the Great were also reported in Asia in the third century BC. C. and Julio César in the first century.
